Kids Safety Superhero Campaign

Updated: Jan 15, 2021

Safe Kids Missoula Coalition launching Safety Superhero Campaign recognizing safe behaviors.

Missoula, MT — Safe Kids Missoula introduced a new Safety Superhero Campaign on Monday, Wednesday, January 6, 2021. The campaign will recognize children who practice safe behaviors like buckling up in a vehicle, wearing a helmet while biking, or looking both ways before crossing the street. These behaviors are important steps to prevent injury, the leading cause of death for children in the United States and in Montana.

“Safety is not only my responsibility to practice, but my responsibility to teach my children and grandchild so that we, as a family, can be safe” stated Coalition Lead Coordinator, Kevi Berger. She shared that collectively, her family has been in over 20 car crashes and span three generations. She realizes the importance of teaching safety and the power of praising those who participate in safe behaviors.“We really wanted to create a program that is family inclusive, allows for safety discussions and increases awareness of the many ways of keeping ourselves and families safer. That is why we want to get the adults involved via the nomination process, praise the youth, and also publicize the safety stories on our social media sites. This way we can continue conversations and encourage safe behaviors.”

Safe Kids Missoula, a coalition of more than 30 community organizations and agencies, is dedicated to protecting children from preventable injury. The campaign is designed to engage community members in normalizing and promoting safe practices with children and others.
