Drive Safe Missoula - We Need You!

Updated: Jul 31, 2020

Drive Safe Missoula is a big supporter of the Montana Department of Transportation's Vision Zero. This means we are working towards achieving Zero Deaths and Zero Serious injuries on Montana's roadway. In order to accomplish this goal "We Need You." We need you to get to your destination safely. We need you to adopt safe driving behaviors. We need you to always wear your seat belt. We need you to help us because we can only accomplish this vision with you.

Here in Missoula, we are playing our part by launching our new website www.drivesafemissoula.com. Drive Safe Missoula will serve as the home of the Missoula County DUI Task Force and the Missoula County Buckle Up Montana Coalition. Additionally, services like our free child car seat program and the Responsible Alcohol Sales and Service training will be housed under Drive Safe Missoula.

All of the programs under the Drive Safe Missoula brand have been in existence here in Missoula for many years, and they will all remain the same, they just have a new hangout.

Drive Safe Missoula is part of the Health Promotions division of the Missoula City-County Health Department in Missoula, Montana. A key aspect will be to promote healthy and safe driving behaviors throughout our county. These include:

  1. Sober Driving

  2. Choosing Safe Ride Options

  3. Always Wearing a Seatbelt Properly - Every Trip, Every Time.

  4. Correctly using Child Car Seats and Booster Seats

  5. Ensuring Child Safety Seats are used correctly by having them inspected by a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician.

  6. Choosing to drive "In Control" and free from distractions like Technology. (Visit our Driving Under the Influence of Technology (DUIT) and take the pledge to #IDontDUIT (Pronounced "I Don't Do It" - Meaning, I don't drive under the influence of technology DUIT.)

  7. Supporting our local DUI Court (ROAD Court) and other treatment options to reduce repeat offenders.

  8. Training front line staff in the best practices related to Responsible Alcohol Sales and Service.

With that, thank you and Drive Safe Missoula.

Steve E. Schmidt - Drive Safe Missoula Coordinator.
