Home Safe Missoula, we will miss you!

For the past 25 years, by my calculations, there has been a life-saving non-profit organization here in town that has paid for taxi rides home for those who have consumed too much to drive. This organization was also known as Home Free Missoula.

I found this from back in 2014.

Home Safe Missoula, Inc. has now dissolved. However, with expanding ride-sharing companies here in Missoula, the options to make it "Home Safe" are much greater than in the past. It was determined that this service wasn't being utilized enough to keep it in operation.

Home Safe Missoula had some remaining funds in their account that they have donated to the Missoula County DUI Task Force and Drive Safe Missoula. These funds will be utilized in our ongoing efforts to reduce the number of DUIs we experience here in Missoula County.

Special thanks to Harry Watkins from Zip Beverage and the rest of the Home Safe Missoula Board of Directors for working so hard over the years to save lives and keep our roads safer.

I would also love to recognize the countless sales and services representatives who have offered and set up the 40,100+ rides for your patrons over the years. True Lifesavers!
